Paul R. Marchesano on September 30th, 2022:
The first organ for St. Dominic's Church of which we have any record was a one-manual E. & G. G. Hook & Hastings tracker, Op. 778, 1874, which was installed in the original church building. It appears to have been moved to St. Patrick's Chapel In the basement of the new church, but it was removed when the lower church was renovated some years ago. Donald C. Taylor found several damaged sets of pipes from Op. 778, in a closet al the church in the early 1960s. The rest of the organ apparently had been destroyed. Some Trumpet 8' pipes from Op. 778 are in use in the organ al the Baptist Temple at Ocean Park, Maine. Pipes from the Dulciana 8' of Op. 778 were used in the tonal alterations to the upper church organ; still others, an Open Diapason 8', Octave 4', Fifteenth 2', and Pedal Bourdon 16', were so badly damaged that they were taken In trade to be used for parts. -- *1992 OHS Handbook*
