Andrew Henderson on February 28th, 2023:

From The British Whig (Monday, August 21, 1876): "On Saturday, after a week's steady employment of Mr. C. Warren and three men from the manufactory, the new organ was erected in its place in St. George's Cathedral, and a recital given by way of a test of its working ondition, its tuning and musical qualities ... The opening was very satisfactory so far as the exhibition of tone and apppearance was concerned. The instrument is the fourth largest in Canada, its equals being that in the Metropolitan Church, Toronto, and in two Montreal churches. It stands 24 feet high, and has a width of 18 feet by 11 feet. It has a handsome look -- the finish being very fine if not artistic. In front there are thirty-five speaking pipes, the largest being 19 feet and the smallest about 12 feet ... The organ cost $3,500 and was built by Messrs. S. R. Warren & Co., of Montreal."
