From The Expositor (Brantford, ON, May 26, 1897): "Friday evening last found the largest crowd in the Methodist Church here that has been in it for years, in fact it would be hard to place more in without injury. The cause of the crush was the opening of the handsome new pipe organ, built by Messrs. E. Lye & Sons, of Toronto. The concert was given entirely by Toronto talent. Miss L. James, soprano; J. H. Winters, basso; Ed. Lye, tenor; Herb Lye, flutist; A. H. Lye, organist. The audience of about 500 was delighted with the programme throughout, and a hearty vote of thanks was tendered the performers for the excellent music afforded. The organ is a beautiful piece of workmanship. The case is of polished chestnut. The tone was admired by all. On Sabbath special services by way of singing were rendered. Beside the excellent choir of the church, which was in full strength for the occasion, J. H. Old, of Bright assisted also, singing solos at both services. The pastor contributed solos as did also the church organist, Miss Nicholas. Mr. George Atkinson, of Toronto, presided at the organ, and delightful and profitable services were the result.
