Updated through online information from James C. Burke, Ph.D.. -- A new church designed by Hobart Upjohn replaced the 1861 First Presbyterian Church in 1928. The 1861 church was destroyed by fire on 31 December 1925. [Source: Tetterton, Beverly. Wilmington: Lost But Not Forgotten. Wilmington, NC: Dram Tree Books, 2005. 72.] The 1928 Skinner Opus 713 is the original organ installed in this structure.
