Andrew Henderson on October 6th, 2024:

A temporary instrument installed at the opening of the church in 1880, offered for sale in 1886 upon the installation of the new Conacher instrument.
From the "Telegraph-Journal" (Saint John, August 18, 1886): "A rare opportunity for purchasing a superior church pipe organ is offered by the Vestry of St. Luke's Church, Portland. The instrument is of London make--Wm. Pilcher--contains 8 speaking stops, metals and wood, is of powerful yet sweet tone, and would be most suitable for a small church, Sunday school room or hall. Original cost, 120 pounds ($600) Will sell for $250 cash. Apply to rector or church warders."
