This entry represents the installation of a new organ. Identified through online information from Andrew Henderson (December 26, 2024): From the New York Times (August 25, 1868): "An excellent 28-stop organ, now in course of construction at Lancaster, NY, will be placed in the church this autumn, at a cost of $6,000."
From the Buffalo Daily Republic (June 14, 1869): "Mr. Wm. Berge, in his usual effective manner, making fully apparent the various beauties of the new instrument [at Children of Mary -- later Sacred Heart Convent -- at the Chapel at 49 West 17th Street], built by Mr. Felix Barckhoff, of Lancaster, NY: the same who has already won golden opinions from his fine organ in the church on Pitt Street."
