Paul R. Marchesano on February 18th, 2025:
This organ was donated with the building in which it was located to Albany Historical Society. It was moved with the building February 24th, 2023 to the museum grounds at 2441 204th Rd, Sabetha, KS. The building is the Rock Creek Church which was a Church of the Brethren congregation originally. During its time at Sycamore Springs and presently at its new location, the church is not associated with any denomination. To be clear, the owners at both its last location and the current location allow local churches to conduct services in the building. The organ itself came from the First Baptist Church in Hiawatha, KS. Our research indicates that it was built somewhere between 1883 and 1885. This is based on the where and what is on the tag on the console. Information received online from Alex Dawdy on 2025-01-22

Updated through online information from James Scott. -- Organ is in a non temperature controlled environment but is regularly used by various area churches during the Summer season for worship services. According to the owner, it was moved to this location many years ago from the Presbyterian Church [ed. corr: from the Baptist Church] in Hiawatha, Kansas. The church building, including organ, are also available and used for weddings. A couple of the taller pipes had to be cut and mitered to fit under the ceiling, but it appears to be in pretty much original condition. I played the organ briefly in the very cold room and it sounded fairly good. There were no obvious air leaks, tuning is questionable and the keys are not at all level. Still, nice condition for its age.
