From the Thorold Post (March 3, 1893): “The new pipe organ for the Methodist Church has been ordered of Leys [sic] or Toronto, who made the organ now being superseded, which has been in use about twenty-five years, and was first played by W. F. Hartley, the present leader of the choir. The old organ is being taken over by the maker, and in it some smaller church will no doubt get a cheap and good instrument.”

From the Thorold Post (November 17, 1922): “Arthur H. Lye and Walter Lye, brothers, have arrived in town, and are erecting the new organ in the Presbyterian Church … this is not the first organ that the firm has installed in Thorold. Fifty years ago their father, the late Edward Lye, placed the first pipe organ in the Methodist Church, and after years of service it was purchased by the English Church at Campbellford, where it is still doing good service.”
