Paul R. Marchesano on April 8th, 2026:

From email correspondence with Nicholas Yung, 2026-04-08:
Most of the info is from this historic placard and recollections from Fr. Robert Rien and Jack Bethards at Schoenstein. It was originally built by J.H. & C.S. Odell & Co. in 1874. The original location is speculated to be another West Coast church, but it was moved to Sacred Heart Parish in Oakland CA in 1936 and was in use until 1989. In this 1936 install, Schoenstein had split the instrument and electrified it.

After the Loma Prieta earthquake, it was in need of repairs and was moved to its current place at St. Paschal Baylon when they renovated the sanctuary. This initiative was led by Fr. Robert Rien, and he explained that it was expanded in 1992 by Schoenstein & Co with consultation from Mark Austin. This included:

16' Trombone in the Pedal (12 pipes)
8' Voix Celeste in Swell
4' Choral Bass in the Pedal
IV Rank Mixture Great
Extension of 8' Open Bass
Extension of 8' Trumpet

This entry represents tonal additions to an existing organ. A IV Mixture was added to the Great after the initial 1991-92 installation. Identified through online information from Fr. Robert Rien via Nicholas J. Yung [November 6, 2025].
