Lewtak announced this project on February 26, 2026 on their Facebook page, "We're honored to announce our latest project! Lewtak Pipe Organ Builders has been chosen to fully restore the historic pipe organ at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Macon, Georgia — a magnificent instrument dating back to 1903 with over 3,400 pipes. We will be carefully dismantling, transporting, and rebuilding this treasured organ in our North Carolina shop, with the goal of returning it to the parish in time for Christmas. We take great pride in preserving sacred instruments like this one, and we can't wait to give St. Joseph's congregation the sound they deserve!"
The present instrument is a 1986 Schlicker which incorporates pipework (and equipment?) of the former 1903 Henry Pilcher's Sons (Opus 440, 1903).
This entry represents the total renovation of an existing organ. Identified through online information from Dr. Gregory Hamilton (October 3, 2026): The organ is currently undergoing a total renovation by the Lewtak Pipe Organ Builders, Inc.. There will be a new console, new facade design and three new stops: Pos 4' Flute, Ped 32' Bourdon and Bombarde. Completion date: Christmas 2026.
