Updated by Steven Bartley, naming this as the source of information: "The News" Frederick MD Aug. 30, 1892 pg3 & Oct 6, 1892 pg3.
The 1814 church two story building Court St) was converted to Sunday School use on the first floor and chapel on the 2nd floor. The two articles say that the Roosevelt organ was for the chapel. Some details given about the organ.....has 245 pipes, 3 shaded gas jets, one manual
of 58 keys, pedal of 12 notes, 5 speaking stops enclosed in a swell box. Man to pedal & man octave couplers. Tremulant, bellows signal, wind indicator, balanced swell pedal, one pedal movement.
As Frederick was in the orbit of Roosevelt's Baltimore shop, headed by Adam Stein, it is probable that the organ was made, at least in part, in Baltimore. It is not yet known how much the Roosevelt satellite shops actually did in the way of building Roosevelt organs. It is known that Stein, who carried on in the Baltimore shop, under his own name, did not get steam powered wood working until 1900, and the number of workers seems to have been no more than a handful of workers.
The 1826 organ, which has been in the 1814 church and later the 1855 church was moved to the 1st floor Sunday school room, after being rebuilt.
Status Note: There 2003.
Manual divided.
