When the Second Church of Christ, Scientist, opened this impressive fane on Easter 1916, the $10,000 organ was not yet finished. Construction on the building had been started in 1910; the First Church, established in 1885, and occupying a large building since 1902, was overflowing. Second Church, which seats over 1,200, was sold to the Baha'is of Denver in 1996. The Baha'i faith, dedicated to the establishment of peace throughout the world, was founded in Persia in 1844. It "is an independent world religion. It has no clergy or priesthood. A basic principle is the right and duty of each individual to investigate truth independently and to be responsible for his or her own spiritual development." -- 1998 OHS Handbook
