Nate Pultorak on March 23rd, 2022:

The church is permanently closed but the organ is still there. The deacon let me in to look at it and play it. It was restored in 1999 by Carey Organ co as their opus 44r. Considering the circumstances of the church building, the organ seems usable, but they would like to get the organ out of there mostly for it's preservation. They are interested in selling it.

Database Manager on October 30th, 2004:

Uses older parts. [P. O. address in 1987.] The Carey Organ Company has begun restoration [Jan 1999] of the organ in St. Louis of France Church, Sciota, NY. Built in 1879 for a church in Rockvill (sic) CT, the organ has been in Sciota for some time. A very large single rise reservoir replaced the original at the time of installation of an electric blower. This also necessitated the deactivation of two unlabelled combination pedals, which remain stored within the case. The organ is otherwise in unaltered condition. Work to be completed will include: recovering of the 56-note manual keyboard in bone; cleaning and regulation of all pipework, including repacking of stoppers; replication of missing manual to pedal coupler components; rebushing of the pedalboard, and complete rebuttoning of the action.
