The chapel and organ were badly damaged by Hurricane Hugo in September 1989; the console was removed for storage at an on-campus warehouse, where the console photo was taken.

\r\nPer information on the Citadel Chapel website and Cornell Zimmer\'s website, Zimmer has added a new polished copper all-pipe Clarion Militaire mounted en chamade under the large stained glass window at the west end of the church. According to the Chapel website Zimmer has also installed the rebuilt Choir division in the North chamber and is anticipating the re-installation of the Great and much of the Pedal in that same chamber. See the Zimmer website for photos of the console and en Chamade pipework, as well as the new stoplist.

Updated through online information from Eugene Walter III. -- The Reuter pipework and chests were removed in 2014 by Cornell Zimmer Company as part of a three-phase project that will restore this instrument. The new console with all-digital voices was installed in March 2015. The project is awaiting funding for the next phase: re-installation of the rebuilt Great.
Updated through online information from Randell Franklyn Busby. -- It is reported that pipework from this organ has been removed from the chambers. A 30-year old 2-manual electronic and off-brand grand piano currently serve as the sole instruments in this building.
Updated through online information from Eugene Walter. -- Organ ceased to function in 1983 due to electrical fire in console. Pipes and chests mostly in place (some relocated to install speaker system for electronic replacement). Console removed to storage.
