Andrew Henderson on February 17th, 2022:

The original instrument in the previous church was a mechanical action instrument probably built by the D. W. Karn Co. and rebuilt and electrified by the C. Franklin Legge Organ Co. When the new church building was completed on the same site, much of the pipework from this instrument was reused in the Verscheuren Organ. The original contract was evidently not completely fulfilled and the Werner Knoch Organ Co., representatives of E. F. Walcker, were engaged to create the swell enclosures and revoice and repair pipework. The organ was installed behind an oak and fiberglass screen with no visible pipes. The organ was plagued with various mechanical problems over the years, and in 1992 Dodington & Dodington replaced the original console with a used 1961 Casavant console. Certain ranks of pipes were retained when Dodington & Dodington replaced the organ in 2003 with an effectively new instrument using pipes and mechanisms from various used Casavant instruments. The church was closed in 2015.
