From the Westfield Republican (June 13, 1909): "On Friday evening last Dr. and Mrs. C. E. Welch opened their home to over one hundred of the music lovers of Westfield, the occasion being the opening of the new Hope-Jones chamber organ, at which the following program was given ... The organ was built by the Hope-Jones Organ Co. of Elmira, NY. Mr. Hope-Jones has built some of the finest organs in this country and in England. His specialty is the wonderful tone effects which he gets by peculiarities of construction and voicing. This organ, while small (having seven stops), affords a numberless variety of tonal changes which are obtained by couplers and the use of an almost perfect set of shutters reducing tone instantly or gradually from the full power of the instrument to the softest pianissimo. The organ is admirably adapted to its location - filling the home with tone yet the softest stop is distinctly heard in every room."
The organ was later moved to the local Methodist Church's Epworth League Room.
