In 1992 George Bozeman & Co. enlarged the organ to 24 ranks, adding two new Trumpet ranks on blank toeboards in the Great and short-compass Swell, and extending the Pedal Sub Bass from 12 to 25 pipes. Andover protected the organ during the 2009 enlargement of the sanctuary, and relocated the blower from the basement to the organ chamber. The organ resumed its duties on Christmas Eve 2009 and is the largest 19th Century tracker on Cape Cod. -- information from Matthew M. Bellocchio giving this as a source of information: Andover Organ Company files; Andover 2009 Newsletter, p.5, via ORGAN ID 2696
After trying to sell it for almost two years, the parish sold the organ to a local artist, I believe, and it’s been parted out. The organ was replaced by Dobson Op. 98.
Updated through online information from James R. Stettner. -- In 2009, the parish rebuilt their church by extending the nave and reorienting the room to the opposite end it had been. Thus, the organ that was originally installed at the extreme front and recessed into a right-side chamber, is now about halfway towards the rear of the nave and on the left side. The new nave was consecrated Dec. 20, 2009.
The original builder was George Stevens (c. 1853).
Status Note: There 1992.
Relocated from Lawrence, Massachusetts. Restored by Bozeman.
